So What Do You Want To Know?
I
have been painting and drawing all of my life, which isn't surprising considering most of my family are
very artistic. At school I gained some of the highest grades awarded for art in that particular year and
went on to pass A level in Art at college, and later achieved a Distinction in HNC Art & Design. For a
number of years I worked as an Animal Portrait artist perfecting my highly detailed Pencil drawings.
During the late 80's I took a career change and joined the Royal Air Force as a Police Dog Handler. The
next 9 years saw a successful time in the forces, during which time I achieved the station's top Dog Team
in the RAF Police Dog Efficiency Competition in 1991.
In
1996 I took redundancy as part of the Options for Change package as the military became more streamlined.
Just before I left the RAF I thought that I needed to explore my artistic gift, so redundancy came at
just the right time. I trained as a web designer as well as continuing painting and drawing. And since
then I have continued as a Freelance Web Designer and Artist, however
since early in 2004 I shifted my efforts into 3D digital design and art. I now do this full-time
creating digital products to be used in programs such as , , , , etc., as well being
commissioned to produce 3D models for various clients. You can see more of this line of work at my 3D
services site at
My passion is getting involved in digital art in both the execution and the actual technical side of things.
I love the way great realism can be achieved, and can be completed in a fraction of the time it takes
to do a similar picture with oils (sometimes!!).
I share my love for art and digital design with my gorgeous wife Diane. We both work from home based in Whitstable in Kent, UK. She has her own website and store were you can see some fantastic digital graphical resources and artwork.
Amongst my other interests is writing, however since I took
up 3D design I haven't had much time to finish my first full length novel, but I'm eager to get it finished.
I find writing exciting and quite therapeutic. It gives me another medium to put down on paper the stuff
that goes on in my head. Other interests include the computer (obviously!), cinema, especially Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Comic
Hero films, Photography, art, my Shorthaired Pointer - Cassy (she's a rescue GSP),
and playing the guitar and bass.
